Melissa Bailey was recently named South Mississippi State Hospital's 2017 second quarter Employee of the Quarter.
Melissa Bailey was recently named South Mississippi State Hospital’s second quarter 2017 Employee of the Quarter.  Bailey came to work at SMSH in July 2011 as account auditor, having served in the same position previously from February 2008 until August 2010.

“She is an asset in the department,” said Andy Tucker, fiscal services director. “She is very dependable and very knowledgeable about her role at SMSH. She goes above and beyond her call of duty when working with vendors on difficult issues.  She has a big heart and is compassionate about the services we provide at SMSH.”

A Forrest County native and resident, Bailey is a graduate of Forrest County Agricultural High School. She attended Pearl River Community College for two years and the University of Southern Mississippi for two years. She has also completed a broad range of training related to the account auditing position she holds at SMSH.

Bailey is a member of Friends of SMSH at the organization’s Emerald level. She has worked in the medical field more than 20 years in Mississippi, Alabama and Georgia.

“The thing I like most about my job is, first and foremost, the people I work with,” said Bailey. “SMSH is one of the best places I have worked, and I truly enjoy my job. It is a great honor to receive the award for Employee of the Quarter; I feel so blessed to work at such a wonderful place.”

In her spare time, Bailey enjoys family time. She considers her daughters (Shawna, Briana and Kandice) and her grandsons (Peyton and Paxton) her greatest blessings in life.

South Mississippi State Hospital (SMSH) is a 50-bed acute care behavioral health program in Purvis that offers mental health treatment and services for adults in the southern part of the state.
