Family Education sessions are currently suspended until after the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays. The next session is tentatively set for January 2019 and will be held on a Sunday afternoon at 2:30 p.m. immediately following patient visitation. Please watch this site for more an exact date.
These sessions give family members a chance to interact with some of our staff to learn more about mental health and SMSH.
The sessions are general in nature and do not address issues specific to your patient due to privacy. Usually, two or three members of our staff are involved. Information presented could range from a specific topic to a general question and answer session. The meeting generally lasts 45 minutes to an hour. Please RSVP to your patient's social worker or to 601-794-0219 if you would like to attend.
Specific patient information should be addressed with your patient's social worker or at a separate individual family conference scheduled through your patient's social worker and/or doctor.
The Mississippi Department of Mental Health and its partners in the Mississippi State Department of Health, NAMI Mississippi, the Mental Health Association of South Mississippi, and the Mississippi Public Health Institute are launching an expanded public awareness campaign for adults titled "Think Again." These partner agencies are working to raise awareness about mental health and the connection between mental and physical health.
